Forest Ray - Windfucker (Jebivjetar)

Took another couple trips down to Jackpot! Studios down in Portland, OR to mix this wonderful record with Peter from Forest Ray. This album hit me in a different way than a lot of his older material that we’ve collaborated on. It’s more sentimental, more heartfelt, and more reflective than his older albums and I think it goes a long way in showcasing his growing maturity as a songwriter and as a musician. This is a delightful album for lovers of classic rock, country, psych rock, and music theory. All mixing was done from 2” 24-track tape down to 1/4” 2-track through Jackpot’s Neve summing console with me and Peter riding the faders all the way. Pure analog spontaneity.

Plash - Market

Tracked this song for Seattle math rockers, Plash, live to 4-track 1/2” tape. All processing/mixing for the instrumentals were done on the fly as we tracked, with minimal overdubbing for vocals and guitar. Big thanks to my students Maxwell Lemke and Gabe Whisman for their assistance in the studio. Buy the song on their bandcamp!

VLLY - S/T

Produced, engineered, and mixed this record for Seattle shoegaze band VLLY. Tracked to 2” tape at the Unknown in Anacortes and mixed down to 1/2” tape using the Neve mixing console at Jackpot! Studios in Portland, OR. Mastered directly to vinyl by Paul Gold at Salt Mastering in Brooklyn, NY. Buy the album digitally or on 12” vinyl from their bandcamp below.

Forest Ray - Wedgewood Tapes

I produced, engineered, and mixed this record for Seattle psych-rock outfit Forest Ray. This session was recorded in the band’s basement studio to an Otari MX5050 8-track 1/2” tape machine and an old Sony mixer. Mixing was then done fully analog at The Unknown Recording Studio in Anacortes, WA to 1/4” 2-track tape and then mastered directly to vinyl by Paul Gold at Salt Mastering in Brooklyn, NY.

Forest Ray - Faded Reflection

I recorded, produced, and mixed this record 100% analog style with Seattle psych rockers Forest Ray. We tracked everything to 1/2” 8-track and 2” 24-track tape at The Unknown Recording Studio in Anacortes, WA and then mixed down to 1/4” 2-track. The album was then mastered directly to vinyl by Paul Gold at Salt Mastering in Brooklyn, NY. Buy the album digitally or on 12” vinyl here or stream it on Spotify below.
